Ruairí O Neill's Connemara Tour 2012 with Schedule for 2013

Last year Ruairí organised a tour of Connemara. He had 18 people from a small town called Schoelkrippen in Germany come and stay in my village of Carna. They went to Mac Dara's island home of the 6th century monk Mac Dara. The reconstructed ruins stands at the tip of the island. It is now home to a large group of nesting birds and a sheep herd.

The Ruairí O Neill Connemara Tour brings you a Tour that is based on local knowlege. He will take you to places off the beaten track. You will visit islands off the coast of Carna, namely Mac Dara's and Mason Island. You can wander off and do your own thing on the island, you'll have lunch there and then onto Mason Island once a popular fishing island, now abandoned save for a few holiday homes.

Carna is a Gaeltacht region where the first spoken langueage of most is Irish. It is by an large though a bilingual area. It is rich in natural beauty, song, dance and musical instrument playing. It is the birth place of the well known Sean Nós or Old Style singing Joe Heany, Seosamh Ó' hEanai.

During the week I will be giving a jewellery class where you'll make your own silver pendant or ring, no previous experience is required.
